Day One (or Day 197)
April 16th, 2011
4 walls and a light. Pretty much the Hello World of FPS editing.
Here I am: 197 days after Nelg, Nin and myself got together and decided to solidify our goal to make a stealth mod. Our tentative plans were for 2 years from October 2010 to the end of October 2012.
So why am I calling this Day One? I won’t go into our distractions between Nov-March, other than to say they were significant. Life distracts sometimes. We knew that could happen on a project like this, so I don’t think any of us have counted it as a setback, just a delay. Our plans have not changed per se, but they’ve certainly morphed. I’d like to say evolved.
We’re rebooting on a new engine and a subset of our original game design. Making an independent game. We have a new methodology: to work iteratively.
Oh and we have a couple more people involved in one fashion or another: most notably Jim, who will hopefully have enough spare time to codify things that are currently only in our imaginations.
So today is a new day and it starts with 4 walls, a ceiling, a floor, a light and a player.
